NYATEP’s Statement on the Passage of Senate Bill S2144

New York Association of Training and Employment Professionals would like to extend an enthusiastic thank you and congratulations to Senator Roxanne Persaud for her leadership regarding the passage of Senate Bill S2144 on the  Senate floor today. 

It is a true testament to the Senate under the leadership of Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Senate Minority Leader Robert Ortt  to see this bill pass with such strong bipartisan support for a removal of the poverty cap that restricts individuals from getting out of the cycle of poverty. This legislation allows us to get closer to ending the cycle of poverty that affects so many New Yorkers. 

NYATEP strongly urges Speaker Carl Heastie and Minority Leader Will Barclay to take up and pass this critical piece of legislation that we can send to Governor Hochul for signage this legislative session.
