The Partnering Economic & Employment Research (PEER) Academy will provide workforce and economic development professionals with the knowledge, tools, and resources necessary to gather and use data to support local planning, continuous improvement, and innovation efforts in service of equity, systems change, and job quality.
This inaugural Academy will be open to workforce and economic development organizations in Southeast Michigan and Western New York.
The Academy will run from October 2024 through June 2025 and will include a mix of virtual, self-paced and in-person learning.

Access to accurate, easily shared LMI data is an essential resource that helps local and state leaders and practitioners better understand local demographic trends, business and talent development needs, and their choices for investing public and private resources in initiatives and programs.
The PEER Academy will provide workforce and economic development professionals the knowledge, tools, and resources to ensure that Southeast Michigan and Western New York’s service providers, program participants, employers, policymakers, and the general public have access to quality data.

WHAT IS LABOR MARKET INFORMATION (LMI)
Labor market information (LMI) includes any data or information about a region’s labor force, labor market, and workforce development system. Access to accurate, easily shared LMI data is an essential resource that helps local and state leaders and practitioners better understand local demographic trends, business and talent development needs, and their choices for investing public and private resources in initiatives and programs.

Eligibility
Fellows eligible to apply include employees from nonprofit organizations, business associations, community colleges, universities, union-based training efforts, public agencies, and economic development organizations. Independent consultants are not eligible.
We are committed to making our program as accessible as possible. Thanks to the generosity of our funding partners, any individual who wishes to participate in the PEER Academy, and is accepted, can do so at no cost to the them or their organization.

The application process will consist of submitting an application with the required documents and letters of support.
