Income Disregard Advocacy Needed

May 23, 2022

There are only five sessions days left before the legislative season is over and we still have a shot for the 100% earned income disregard to be passed. As you know S6589 Persaud/A7534 Rosenthal will allow individuals participating in publicly funded workforce programs to retain full benefits for six months after earning income. From your feedback we know this will go a long way in mitigating the benefits cliff that forces many New Yorkers who are predominately of Color to make hard decisions between employment and sustaining their families.

Our advocacy is focused on the Chair of the Assembly Ways & Means Committee Helene Weinstein & Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie. We urge you to contact them TODAY to let them know this is a priority and we need action this year.
