Evelyn Ortiz moves on from NYATEP

Nov 07, 2022

As many of you are already aware, last Friday was Evelyn Ortiz's last day with NYATEP.  She joined the NYATEP team back in 2018 and has been the our resident politico, cheerleader, and chief french fry aficionado. Her limitless energy and passion was first apparent during her time in the Workforce Policy and Advocacy Academy, a project which she went on to lead and champion.

Evelyn has been a passionate, formidable advocate; a fierce ally and colleague; who is guided by her faith as a servant leader -- and who is a whole lot of fun to hang out with. Over the last several years her work has been instrumental in redefining NYATEP's downstate work. And, she has cultivated such incredible relationships -- that she was scooped up to be the first Latina Senior Deputy Commissioner at the Suffolk County Department of Labor, Licensing, and Consumer Affairs.

As a beloved team member, Evelyn has been an internal and external champion of our work and each of us individually. She will be sorely missed so this is a bittersweet announcement, but we are excited to see what she accomplishes.

We will miss you Evelyn and wish you the best of luck in this incredible opportunity. We know this is not a goodbye -- but more of a see you soon!
