Meet Annie. She started SYEP when she was 15 years old! She worked in 2018, 2019, and 2020 for Bridges for Brain Injury.

This is a unique non-profit organization that works with individuals who have traumatic brain injuries. The goal of the agency is to raise awareness for traumatic brain injuries and other disabilities and bring change to the lives of those they serve in our community.

They use Wildlife Rock stars- wild animals to do so. Annie was a natural! She excelled at working with the animals, learning new skills, and was a great support to the clients.

Annie was an active Volunteer for many years. In 2021 Annie wanted to try something new and spent that summer working in a Summer Rec Program. This wasn't her favorite job, but she learned a lot. Annie is now attending Wells College for Animal Science.

This summer she returned to SYEP and was placed at a horse farm!

She is an incredibly hard worker and was exceptional around the horses- an animal that before she was scared of

Annie is truly what this program is about!

Chris is a 15 year old who was employed through the Yates County SYEP for his first job!

He was placed with Our Town Rocks to work with the youth drama camp which cultivated in a performance at the end of the program.

Chris became the "tech" person for lighting and sound for the production.

He had no previous experience in this area and he met the challenge head-on!

According to his worksite supervisor, "He successfully operated the sound and lights for a 145 minute production which included running microphones for 25 parts plus special effects lighting for Dorothy and Toto's five minute tornado scene and other special effects throughout the play"!

He was also integral backstage helping with all aspects of the musical and drama summer camps. Chris became an integral and beloved part of the team.

Morris for his summer SYEP placement.  Yasael loved his work and his experience as he learned how to use a great number of machines and how not only to operate them, but about them, and tricks and fixes too! He loved working with people and making friends.

Dior worked at Goodwill for her placement for SYEP.

Dior loved organizing the donations and merchandise!

Dior particularly loved getting to work with others and customers.  Dior also loved the fact that she saw the fruit of her labor with work hard and focus (and a paycheck!)!
