"New this year we had a Green Track within SYEP. We developed 6 green employers who we placed 20 youth with. Two of the businesses were operating green gardens and were teaching the youth how to grow vegetables organically and also composting all waste materials. We also had two green construction worksites that were teaching our young people how to build energy efficient and green homes. There was one business that took in donations and then repurposed furniture and other home products and then sold them and one SYEP youth worked in their collection center. And finally one business is a green restaurant and bakery--Bread Alone. Bread Alone makes all of its breads, pastries, sandwiches, etc. with only organic materials and they use solar energy to power their ovens and buildings. They are produce 0% waste. Two of our SYEP worked as food prep/cashiers in their café."
