Livingston County Workforce Development

"Summer 2021 was Zackary Smith’s second summer working for Livingston County’s Summer Youth Employment Program. This year, he applied for, and was accepted as a Program Assistant, which is a leadership position offered to returning participants who demonstrated a good work ethic in our program previously. Through this leadership role, Zack participated in a book club reading of Abby Wambach’s book, Wolf Pack. He was a role model to the incoming new participants during our pre-hire training week, and even earned a Work Ethic Certification from the Center for Work Ethic Development during that week. This summer, Zack requested to work with children, and was placed as an assistant at Dansville Community Center, overseeing children and their daily activities. Each week, his worksite supervisors let us know how impressed they were with Zack’s dedication to the kids, sharing one day how Zack took it upon himself to teach the children how to crochet! We were so excited for Zack, when at the end of the Summer Program, Zack was offered a position with the worksite where he now works in their after school program."
