Governor Hochul Vetoes Fiscal Cliff Task Force Bill Despite a Valiant Effort from Our Members!

NYATEP was deeply disheartened to learn late Friday that Governor Kathy Hochul has vetoed the Fiscal Cliff Task Force Bill. To say we are disappointed would be an understatement. We firmly believed that the Governor would prioritize the needs of New Yorkers in this critical moment.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude and admiration to the bill's steadfast champions: Senator Roxanne Persaud, Dennis Weakley, Assemblymember Maritza Davila, and Jonathan Harkavy. Their dedication to this important cause has been invaluable.

Additionally, we extend our sincere thanks to all of you—our members, partners, and supporters—who advocated for the passage of this bill. We are immensely proud to have stood with you in support of this vital effort, and we remain deeply grateful for your commitment and advocacy.

Though this is a setback, we will continue to work toward meaningful solutions for New Yorkers in need, and we look forward to collaborating with all of you on future initiatives.
