This is a quick update on what we are doing in Dutchess.
DCWIB staff and WIOA Career Center staff are all working from home.
Our Center is open with the NYSDOL manager and the security guard handling walk-ins.
We have a table in the hall with UI information so people can take the paperwork home and maintain social distance.
We created a Microsoft Teams site- in there staff can chat and work on project groups. I have groups working on Career Pathways, reports, we have an OSOS team doing follow ups and checking records etc. It's a great communication tool as we work to keep everyone positive and working. There is also a list of trainings that staff can do to keep up to date with lots of things. We update this several times a day and I encourage staff to take a break and chat- like we do at work. I also created a staff tracker that everyone fills in every day-I am concerned that someone will stop working and we won't know until time sheets are due. Staff are welcome to use PTO time if they want to - but my goal is to keep everyone focused and busy and paid.
Our Think Dutchess partnership has established a daily email to keep businesses informed, I am participating by filling them in on UI- when I get any information.... This is sent out by our local Chamber but 10 + agencies have provided their businesses lists. In these hard times, we are becoming a true collaboration- it is a wonder seeing the silos come down.
