M. Patricia Smith Confirmed as USDOL Solicitor General

NYS Commissioner of Labor, M. Patricia Smith, was confirmed by the Senate on February 4 to serve as Solicitor General at USDOL. As Solicitor General, Smith is the third highest ranking official at USDOL, and will serve as counsel to Secretary Hilda Solis, as well as overseeing litigation, assisting with policy development, and coordinating with the Wage and Hour Division.
